Nokian Panimo Oyj’s climate work is moving to a new level. The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) has approved the company’s science-based emissions reduction targets. This approval reinforces Nokian Panimo’s commitment to systematic and measurable climate action.
Nokian Panimo Oyj’s greenhouse gas emission reduction targets have been approved through the Science Based Targets Initiative’s assessment process. We aim to achieve these ambitious emission reduction targets through measures targeting our own operations.
The approved, science-based, short-term emissions reduction target is as follows: Nokian Panimo Oyj is committed to reducing its Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 42 per cent by 2030, compared with the 2024 baseline. In addition, Nokian Panimo is committed to measuring and reducing its Scope 3 emissions.
Scope 1 emissions arise from the company’s own operations, such as the use of fuel in our transport vehicles and our own production processes. Scope 2 emissions relate to purchased energy, such as electricity and heat. Scope 3 emissions arise within the value chain, for example from raw materials, packaging, transport and other purchases.
“This approval is an important step for Nokian Panimo. We want to grow the company in a sustainable and responsible manner over the long term. Emissions arise from many sources in production: energy use, packaging, raw materials and logistics. That is why it is important that our targets are measurable and approved by an external body. “This decision confirms that we are on the right track,” says Janne Paavola, CEO of Nokian Panimo Oyj.
Nokian Panimo’s climate work is based on practical action. The company monitors its emissions, improves its energy efficiency and constantly seeks ways to reduce the climate impact of its own operations and its value chain. The approved targets provide a clear framework for this work and a comparable benchmark right up to 2030.
Nokian Panimo’s efforts to reduce emissions are continuing as part of the company’s growth and sustainability initiatives.
