Nokia beer is coming, are you ready?

On the electricity pole by the brewery’s gate hangs a poster, whose text I’ve taken the liberty of tweaking and used as the title for this blog post.Over the past summer we asked customers at Keisari Kauppa & Terassi what kind of Keisari Nokia beer they’d like us to brew. The goal is to make the beer available locally sometime next year.By the end of September we’d received just over 30 responses to the survey. People had clearly given the questions real thought, since beyond the checkboxes they’d also written eloquently in the “greetings to the brewery crew” and “other wishes” sections. So we got plenty of good suggestions, among which Pale Lager emerged as by far the most popular style. Most votes went to an alcohol content in the 4.8-5.5% range. Gluten-free status didn’t matter to respondents. The beer would be packaged in a 0.5 litre can.Dark Lager and India Pale Ale style beers also picked up some scattered support. The greetings to the brewery crew warmed our hearts, with plenty of positive, encouraging messages. “Super!” “Great brewing” “Keep it up”Among the wishes were many good ideas for the can’s design. People wanted a pine marten, Tehdassaari and local history, including Mira Potkonen, featured on the design. Boots, tyres and the paper mill were considered old and boring themes by respondents. This is a good starting point for developing the people of Nokia’s own beer. A pale, sparkling, flavourful and easy-drinking strong lager is coming next year!Thank you to everyone who answered the survey for your valuable opinions!regards, Riitta, brewmaster
